Kitesurfing and kiteboarding are the fastest growing water sports in Dakhla during recent years . The kite scene is a very special one but just as many outdoor sports it’s also about the thrill you get out of it. In fact, Kiteboarding is a very thrilling sport which does not require years of practice to reach the level of enjoyment of the advanced sportsman. Nor does it require you to be buff, young, and a true sport aficionado. Kiteboarding is a sport of fun and excitement. It is an activity where kiters explore their skills and break self-imposed boundaries on their capabilities while feeding an adrenaline hunger.

Kitesurfing is when you use a large, powerful kite for thrust and stand on a surfboard in order to reach high speeds. At these high speeds, you want to perform amazing and exhilarating stunts. Many people compare kitesurfing to skateboarding or snowboarding on water. For years people had to be pulled by a boat in order to experience high speeds and that sport is known as wakeboarding. Now, instead of having to be pulled behind a boat, you have the power to control every move! It’s also way more cost effective since a boat and gas will cost you thousands of dollars. Since there are so many terms for the sport kitesurfing, we stick to the most common terms. Kiteboarding is really flat water surfing and kitesurfing is when you are riding the waves.

Dakhla is one perfect spot for watersports like sailing, kitesurfing, surfing and kiteboarding because of its almost constant wind year around in addition to its location, having flat water from one side and waves on the other. So, expect large open beaches, constant winds and perfect temperatures and Dakhla is perfect for both kiteboarding and kitesurfing. Whether you want to learn or improve your skills, we’ll help you do just that. Located at about 25 km from downtown, Dakhla Kitesurf World is just a few steps from the lagoon and surrounded by sand dunes. Kiteboarding is our main watersport, we are passionate about people and kites together. The kite spot is literally at your doorstep, you can maximize your time on the water and enjoy morning and afternoon sessions as you please. Dakhla’s beauty is also an added attraction to the kiteboarding enthusiasts since they get to experience a one-of-a-kind combination of vast and uncrowded beach; reliable wind and a variety of kiting conditions from flat water to fun wave riding.

Obviously, most people prefer to kitesurf in the summer, for one thing the temperature is more bearable. Summer also brings some very reliable thermally driven winds. (Winds affected by the heating of the earth and sea) These winds are so constant in some places that for four or five months out of the year you can get out practically every day. In the summer months Dakhla is battered by wind, providing some of the best and most consistent “bump and jump” conditions in the world.

During winter, kite surfers rely much more on low-pressure systems to bring the wind, though, this can be less reliable. That’s not to say that winter kitesurfing is impossible, in fact, Dakhla provides one of the worlds’ best winter kitesurf locations due to its reliable winds and comparably warm climate. Kitesurfing in the winter has the added advantage that there are not many people on the water so you have much more space to practice your latest move (and no one will see if you mess it up a few times!).

Now that you have a sense of the amazing watersport, just checkout Dakhla then. It is definitely the best place to be for kiteboarding and kitesurfing. Becoming an international destination, Dakhla has been hosting international competitions bringing together top kite surfers champions from all around the world due to its high blustery winds and challenging waves. Thanks to its lagoon with 25 km of flat water, Dakhla has also been paradise for beginners and amateurs who want to learn and improve their skills.
